STILL RESTING HERE
Project type
watercolor painting
Date
1997
Location
North Georgia Mountains
We found this old historic chapel in the mountains of north Georgia where my husband spent his summers growing up. That's me on the steps. I painted this painting to symbolize my resolve to stay seated upon the solid life I find in New Testament Christianity, despite the recent pain to me that my child could be hurt by something I had no control over. My youngest had become a type 1 diabetic at the early age of 16 months old. The colors I used here are earthy on the outer edges but out-of-this-world on the steps and in the shadows symbolizing that there are some mysterious things that are outside of myself and my personal pain. These good things are worth resting on.
